Week 18: Belgium and the Netherlands
We have had a lovely week, slowly travelling through Belgium and the Netherlands.
We love a good walking tour and beautiful Bruges did not disappoint, with its canals, cobbled streets and medieval architecture. While in Bruges we stayed at an ex military base that they are in the process of converting into a caravan park, which was a bit unusual and rough and ready. We had a lovely winery stay in Tielt-Winge, Belgium and enjoyed a farm stay in Lansingerland, Netherlands surrounded by nature, cows and the calm Dutch countryside.
Big shout out to my driver who has done an amazing job navigating the traffic and the maze of motorways, even when Google maps kept freezing and his co-pilot was snoozing, and getting us safely to each destination.
Funny story- I woke up in the car to find us driving through what looked like a border crossing. Pete and I panicked-passport scrambling, full meerkat mode. Turns out...it was only a toll booth. The attendant took one look at us, scared senseless, and let us through, #TravelFails
Now we’re back in England after a smooth ferry ride, a great week full of special memories!
