Week 7: Exploring the WAW with a detour.

We’re had a wonderful week travelling along the stunning Wild Atlantic Way, taking in some of Ireland’s most breathtaking scenery. Highlights included the dramatic Cliffs of Kerry and the unforgettable drive around the Ring of Kerry-every turn offered a postcard worthy view.

Along the way, we ran into some car trouble when our truck started slipping out of high range and needed repairs. Luckily, we came across Stryker Land Rover, specialists in Land Rover Defenders, who were incredibly helpful. In an amazing twist of fate, they even knew James from KLR Automotive in Sydney who did the gearbox repairs back in Australia last year-what are the chances?

The issue they found is the bearings have collapsed on the intermediate cluster in the transfer case.

While we wait for parts from KLR, we have hired a car and found some local accommodation, which has given us the chance to slow down and enjoy even more of this beautiful country.

Even with the unexpected detour, it’s been an unforgettable adventure.
