Week 13: Scottish Highlands and Chasing Waterfalls
What an amazing week exploring the beautiful Isle of Skye and travelling North along the NC500.
We got to see the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct from the Harry Potter movies-and waited in the rain for an hour and a half to see the iconic steam train crossing it! Such a cool experience, and the views around it were stunning.
We really have loved every moment on the Isle of Skye-its wild landscapes and unique beauty have made this part of the journey unforgettable.
One of the best hikes we’ve done so far is the Old Man of Storr. The climb was a bit tough, but the views from the top were absolutely worth it. So dramatic and beautiful!
We visited some amazing waterfalls along the way which included Mealt Falls, crashing straight into the sea, Victoria Falls (Talladale) tucked away in the forest and Corrieshalloch Gorge, a huge, deep canyon with a powerful waterfall, and a hike to the Fairy Pools which was crystal-clear water, little waterfalls, and the most magical setting.
We also stood where dinosaurs once walked 166 million years ago on An Corran Beach.
Can’t wait to see what next week brings as we continue our journey along the NC500!
